The annual edition Christmas ingot was far and away the most popular Franklin Mint issue. A new ingot was issued each year from 1970-2003. The original ingots were 1000 grain size; starting in 1974 a 500 grain version (same size but half the thickness) was also offered. The ingots originally came in individual small display boxes, but because of the popularity of the ingots, a white display case designed to hold 10 ingots (either 500 or 1000 grain) was offered separately. Prices increased over the years, and the mintage numbers dropped correspondingly. The ingots from the 70's are quite common; those from the 80's rarer; from the early 90's rarer still; and from the late 90's through 2003 are very rare. The table below only includes mintage numbers through 1980 - information from later years is not available.
